GENERAL NOTES

F VIII inhibitors may develop in patients with severe Haemophilia A as a complication of therapy OR in patients with autoimmune disorders, malignancies, or no apparent previous disorder. In haemophilia A, the inhibitor/F VIII complex (antibody/antigen complex) has no factor activity, while in patients with acquired factor deficiencies due to inhibitors, some F VIII activity is shown. [Anti-von Willebrand autoantibodies with resulting F VIII deficiency have been described in patients with multiple myeloma.]
