APPLICATION: Purkinje cell antibodies have only limited application in the investigation ofsuspected paraneoplastic syndromes affecting the CNS.
INTERPRETATION: Yo antibodies may be found in paraneoplastic cerebellar degeneration. Hu antbodies may be found in paraneoplastic encephalomyelitits and sensory neuropathy.
Anti-SOX1 antibodies have been described to be positive in patients with paranoeplastic Lambert-Eaton myasthenic syndrome and in a lower amount in patients with anti-Hu positive paraneoplastic neurological syndroms, and with SCLC alone, respectively.
Sox-1 antibodies are detected on a neuronal immunoblot, which is performed irregularly at RBH so some delay in result will be expected.
