Children, males, females over 50 years old, and breast cancer patients have Estradiol performed by Mass Spectrometry (E2LCMS). This are only performed twice a week.
GENERAL NOTES
APPLICATION: Diagnosis of precocious puberty. Monitoring of oestrogen therapy is only possible if the drug being administered is oestradiol (E2). Monitoring ovulation induction in in vitro fertilisation. Assessment of women with suspected hypothalmic or pituitary disease.
INTERPRETATION: Increased levels indicate an endogenous or exogenous source of increased oestradiol.
