APPLICATION: Antibodies may not be present in an early acute phase specimen and a serum collection after 2 weeks may be required for diagnosis.
INTERPRETATION: High titres may persist for up to 1 year and may not indicate recent infection. False positives do occur with acute pancreatitis.
