Measles is urgently notifiable to the Queensland Public Health units on clinical suspicion.
Urgent PCR can only be approved by the Public Health Unit Officer on call. The microbiologist on-call can be contacted for assistance if required.

PCR cannot be performed on swabs collected in bacterial transport medium.
