When ordering this test please list suspected or known drugs.
APPLICATION: Detection of drug overdose. Identification or unauthorised consumption of legal or illegal drugs. Screening for drug-taking in employees. Monitoring of patient compliance with drug-free or methadone programme. INTERPRETATION: If the drug taken is known (eg. paracetamol, salicylate, theophylline), measurement of plasma levels may be more appropriate. The presence of drug and/or metabolites indicates past drug taking. Urinary levels of drug or metabolites vary with the drug involved, the time since the last dose, the dose taken and individual pharmacodynamics. Assay sensitivity depends on the analytical method and some drugs are not expected in urine or detected by certain assays. Some drugs such as volatiles (eg. glue sniffing and some hallucinogens, eg. LSD, mushrooms) are not detected. Consult a Chemical Pathologist.
NSAIDS if requested must be included in the cover letter along with the requirement for DSUP by QTOF
