Toxoplasma IgG avidity testing may be used in pregnancy to help determine if the infection is recent or remote based on the avidity with which the antibodies bind to the test antigen.
INTERPRETATION: Avidity Ratios greater than or equal to 0.3 indicate toxoplasma infection more than 4 months ago. Avidity ratios less than 0.3 may indicate recent or past infection.
