HSVNAA cannot be performed on blood.
HSVPCR can be performed by Pathology Queensland on only EDTA blood if querying disseminated HSV infection in a neonate.
Tissue must be collected in a sterile specimen container. Blood can be sent as Whole blood or plasma.
