GENERAL NOTES

Hepatitis E is not endemic in Australia and can be considered in persons who have been in an Hepatitis E endemic area within the last 3 months (ie India, SE Asia, China, some areas in Africa and Mexico). If the patient is seen within 14 days of the onset of symptoms, faeces can be sent for Hepatitis E PCR testing.
