Q FEVER SKIN TESTING 1. Dilute 0.1 mL of Vaccine in 30 mL of sodium chloride (injection grade) and use within 6 hours 2. Disinfect forearm with methylated spirits & inject 0.1 mL of diluted vaccine intradermally into volar surface of forearm 3. Read at 7 days 4. Any induration (oedema) at the site is a positive reaction and vaccination should not be given.
GENERAL NOTES
Skin testing is essential prior to vaccinaiton with Q Fever.
Always send a SST sample for QFAB when performing a QFSkin- as both results are required to inform Clinician.
PREVACCINATION TESTING Before vaccinating against Q Fever Screen patietn with both: Q Fever Serology and Q Fever Skin Testing
If either are postive DO NOT VACCINATE because of risk of severe hypersensitivity reaction.
Q FEVER (COXIELLA) SEROLOGY Patients with Positive Serology (CF 1 in 2.5, EIA positive or IFA >=10)should not be vaccinated.
