Skin: aseptic punch biopsy, or if post mortem, 1cm of skin collected aseptically from the buttocks. Place in "Tissue Sample Transport Medium" in sterile container.
POC and foetal membrane samples are placed into the same yelow-topped containers.
Yellow-topped urine jars containing the transport medium are available from CSR or from Cytogenetics.
THESE SAMPLES MUST NOT BE COLLECTED IN FORMALIN.
GENERAL NOTES
APPLICATION: Fibroblast culture is performed for either constitutional cytogenetics studies, or to establish a fibroblast culture to be used to perform other tests, eg, metabolic studies, DNA testing, etc.
