Sterile collection of placental tissue for chromosome studies into a 10 mL JPP tube.  Specifying gestation and clinical indications on request form.

These specimens should be booked in with the laboratory and if late gestation (>18 weeks) a call to the laboratory for rapid collection is appreciated.

This test is usually collected for prenatal diagnosis from 11+ weeks.

Pre-natal CVS specimens should be transported to the laboratory as soon as possible.  .

Short-term results are available after 24 hours.  Long-term (final) results are available within approximately 2 weeks.
